The browser wars: Firefox 2.0 vs IE7

Microsoft and the Mozilla Foundation both released new browsers recently. Internet Explorer 7 was the first update of Internet Explorer in around four years - an eternity in Internet years. Firefox has been updated numerous times and to some extent IE7 was an attempt to catch up with Firefox 1.5.

Man hacks cash machine with MP3 player

According to a story at the Out-Law.com legal news site a Manchester man stole £200,000 after hacking standalone cash machines.

By plugging his MP3 player into the machines the man was able to record the cash machine's dialup modem tones. He was then able to decode the tones and extract credit card data, subsequently creating clone credit cards.

Incidentally for anyone interested in IT and the law, the Out-law.com weekly podcast is usually well worth listening to.

Apparently it was entirely coincidental. The same week Microsoft finally launched Internet Explorer 7, the Mozilla Foundation launched version 2.0 of the Open Source Firefox browser. What is different and which is best? Stay tuned for an Infomania comparative review.
